  1. In the movie and the book, both the men and women go on strike due to changes of working conditions. Also in both the stories the characters do not have very much money, and have trouble providing for themselves.

The movie and book both tell about a time around the 1900s, where working was very different from today. Also both stories take place in New York.

  2. The similarities between the movie and the book is that both groups went on strike because of unfair treatments in their job. In the book, the women went on strike to protest they need pay equal to men. The women formed a union that protested for women’s rights. In the movie some young boys that worked as newsboys went on strike because the price for them to buy the newspapers they sell went up. The boys mentioned that they did not have a union to back them up if they go on strike. They go on strike anyway to show they want the price to go back down to its original price.

  4. I think that the book and the movie are similar but also different .I think they’re similar because in both the book and the movie the people went on strike because they did not like their work and the pay. It’s also similar because they both live in tenements and kind of have the same lifestyles. Also the movie and book both took place in new York and was in the year 1900s .In the work and movie both the men and woman formed their own union and went on a strike together to prove their rights.

  5. The movie "Newsies" is similar to the movie in many ways. First of all, both of them take place in New York. Both of the people in the book go on strike because something changes with their businesses. They also do not have much money and it is hard to live their lives.

Their are both different because the boys sell newspapers and the girls make shirtwaists. They both live in tenements and are young as well. Even though the book and the movie are both similar and different in many sorts of ways, I liked them both.

  6. The book and the movie, so far, are both good. They have a bit of differences and a bit of similarities. The book talked more about the girls instead of boys, unlike the movie which talked about boys. The movie talked about boys and newspapers while the book talked about girls and shirtwaist. The book also talks about immigrants from different countries while the movie talks about boys all from the same country.

One of the similarities between the two books is the place. The strikes happen in the same place, New York. Another similarity between the two is how both the girls and boys lived in tenements. Also the boys and girls’ age are about the same. Both events involved money and both went on strike.

  7. When comparing the book and the movie, two different groups of people are going on strike. One strike is the neswies and the other group is the women’s factory strike. The strikes in a way are similar yet different. They are similar in the fact that they are both fighting for higher wages. The women’s strike is more than just higher wages but also for better working hours. Whereas the newsies were more about having to work until all of their papers were sold.

Both the book and the movie represent the mistreatment of the employees. The book talks about how women were not treated equally by their lower wages, longer working hours and overall poorer working conditions. The movie shows how the kids and teenagers were being taken advantage of by making them sell the same number of papers for less money.
